This long-term contract / temporary employment opportunity is based in the San Jose, California area. You will be the director of first impressions by providing customer service over the phone and in-person over the course of this Medical Receptionist role. Answer incoming calls and properly route calls or take messages, return calls, check phone queue to monitor calls on-hold.
Relay patient questions, requests and other calls to the appropriate person/department.
Schedule, reschedule and/or cancel medical appointments as requested by the patient and in accordance with AACIs Appointment Scheduling Policy.
Collect, update and verify all pertinent patient demographic and insurance information. Verifiy eligibility information.
Resolve patient inquiries, complaints or concerns regarding their accounts or appointments.
Collect payments from patients in accordance with AACIs policies of handling cash.
Assist with referral process.
Participate in quality assurance and patient education and health promotion activities.
Communicate with outside specialists’ offices, and other clinics and hospitals.
Provide administrative support to health care providers and management.
Communicate regularly on the status of operations, patient access, medical records, insurance coverage updates and any other related issues.
Qualifications
High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
High level of customer service skills.
Experience in a healthcare environment.
EHR software knowledge(Epic)
Requirements - Ability to multitask and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds
Experience with multi-line phone systems preferred
High School Diploma required, A.S. Degree in healthcare/related field preferred
1 or more years of experience handling multi-line phone systems
Proven knowledge of medical billing
Well-founded grasp of Medical Dental
Electronic medical records experience required
Epic Software experience
EMR (Electronic Medical Records) experience
Epic EMR experience preferred
Practical knowledge of Medical Insurance
General familiarity with Medical Front Office
EHR SYSTEM experience
This role requires you to have experience with insurance billing and an electronic medical record system
1+ year of experience as a Medical Receptionist
General grasp of medical terminology
