Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Biologist to join our Evergreen division. This role includes the preparation, research, review, and editing of technical documents, such as habitat conservation plans, environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, and environmental and technical reports. Responsibilities will also include analyzing and summarizing data from wildlife field surveys and habitat assessments for a variety of species and incorporating that information into larger documents and assisting with field work and collection of field data as needed. Other duties include, but are not limited to, participating in multi-disciplinary environmental assessments; recording, entering, organizing, managing, and analyzing data, writing technical reports for client and regulatory agency review; and attending client and regulatory agency meetings and providing recommendations and input.Duties and Responsibilities1. Safetya. Performs all work in accordance with safety goals and practicesb. Completes all required safety training annuallyc. Promotes safety awarenessd. Conducts all work in accordance with all safety procedures2. Project Planning and Workload Managementa. Ensures that work scope, schedule and cost are accurately defined and approved by the business partner before work proceeds on the project.b. Actively plan, estimate and manage the biological work for specific projectsc. Provides timely input to project schedules identifying known or likely requirements for seasonal bio-fieldwork and seasonal work constraints due to environmental issuesd. Plans and schedules all surveys, monitoring and compliance work to meet regulatory requirementse. Ensures that Project workload (including in-house and contract labor) is tracked and that targets (both schedule and budget) are met.f. Ensure the proper coordination, staff utilization and satisfactory completion of all assigned work.3. Project Communicationa. Ensure that consistent cost and schedule updates are provided to all project leads for each project supportedb. Ensures that business partners are aware of potential cost over /under runs and any project deliverable schedule delays are identified as early in the project planning and implementation process as possible4. Relationship Managementa. Works closely with senior staff and other technical disciplines within the Department to learn appropriate permitting/licensing and mitigation strategiesb. Represent the company in agency/stakeholder interactions and negotiations to best meet the goals and objectives while maintaining compliance with all state and federal guidelines and lawsc. Develop and/or review agency or public meeting presentations for projects you are assigned and ensure that the presentation is factually accurate and based on sound scientific principlesd. Assists in project communications and negotiations with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders on sensitive biological issues5. Technical Project Managementa. As a member of a multidisciplinary project team, develops scope, schedule, and budget as the technical lead for the biological work componentb. Assists in development of strategic permitting and licensing guidance for business partners and contractorsc. Develops project biological study plans and evaluate for cost effectivenessd. Manages and provides technical oversight to contractorse. Plans and manages project studies and assessments associated with specific biological work scopes associated with licensing and permitting projectsf. Helps develop technical responses to agency/NGO comments or requests for data6. Technical Project Performancea. Conduct technical work, as required to meet project goals, using the highest standards of scientific investigation and analysis.b. Participate in design and implementation of technical studies; identify/analyze project impacts; and develop/recommend protection, mitigation, and enhancement measures.c. Prepare or provide oversight to preparation of technical reports and input for licensing and permitting documents.d. Work collaboratively with agencies and non-governmental organizations to resolve licensing and permitting issues.e. Review and comment on environmental documents as requested.7. Technical Quality Assurancea. Ensures that all technical reports (contractor or self generated) meet the technical standards required by the regulatory agency guidelinesb. Supports technical consistency across lines of business, unit, and multiple projects.8. Cost/ Schedule Managementa. Manages cost commitments within the project budgetb. Ensures project budgets are estimated and submitted as required by business partners.c. Provides technical and contract administration oversight for all assigned workd. Ensures that all schedule and deliverable commitments are met on or before the planned due datesSkills and Requirements- BA/BS in Natural Resources, Botany, Biology, Ecology, or related sciences with direct application to current job responsibilities.- 4-6 years of experience in relevant industry- Experience preparing habitat conservation plans and NEPA documents.- Knowledge of and/or experience with federal, state, and/or local environmental permitting processesAbility to validate and accurately analyze information, and make sound decisions that have considerable business impact.Ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients, peers, management, and vendors to successfully meet shifting needs.Ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks and safety appropriately, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.Effectiveness in resource planning, results delivery, and staying current with relevant technology and innovation. - Master of Science Degree in natural resources, ecology, wildlife, or related biological field;
