HR Generalist

Description We are seeking an HR Generalist to join our team in Santa Ana, California. As an HR Generalist, you will be responsible for supporting the functions of the HR department and working under the direction of the CFO to complete a variety of tasks in support of the Business Office department operations. This role offers a contract to permanent employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Oversee and manage HR Information Systems (HRIS) Maintain both physical and digital personnel files to ensure documents are accurate and current Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations Assist in the submission and processing of online payroll Track time and attendance, including vacation, personal and sick time Provide administrative support for medical and 403b benefits Support the onboarding process for new hires Assist in coordinating background checks and fingerprinting processing Aid department managers in recruiting efforts, including creating job descriptions, posting on relevant career and industry-specific sites, screening resumes, and coordinating interviews Ensure the school adheres to safety standards set by OSHA and local regulatory agencies Assist leadership team and employees in following proper protocols in the event of workplace accidents and administer workers compensation claims Support the employee performance review process Oversee compliance of mandatory trainings for school personnel Stay up-to-date with HR best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Undertake other duties as assigned by the CFO. Requirements Proven experience as an HR Generalist or similar role in the Human Resources field Proficiency in using Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATS) for recruitment processes Comprehensive knowledge of Benefit Functions, including employee benefits packages and retirement plans Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively deal with various departments, seniority levels, and external partners Strong understanding of labor law and disciplinary procedures to ensure company-wide compliance Demonstrated proficiency in managing Employee Relations, including conflict resolution, employee engagement, and retention strategies Familiarity with Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) policies and procedures Experience with Gusto HR platform for managing HR tasks such as onboarding, payroll, and benefits administration Proficiency in Full Cycle Recruiting, including sourcing, interviewing, and hiring candidates.
