A medical establishment in Santa Barbara is seeking a Collections Representative to join their team. This position provides financial, clerical and administrative services to ensure efficient, timely and accurate payment of accounts in accordance with the mission, vision and values of the organization. The ideal candidate works as a team player supporting a variety of staff and has past experience exercising discretion and maintaining a high level of confidentiality. This individual will need to display a caring and responsive attitude and conduct all activities while respecting patient, family and employee rights and expectations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Responsible for timely reimbursement of clean claims, corrects denied claims, and appeals denied and delayed claims

Collecting, posting, and managing patient account payments

Compiling and updating revenue cycle management on detailed information regarding specific insurance plan payment/non-payment trends

Processing revenue and bad debt adjustments and refund requests

Corresponding and developing relationships with insurance companies to resolve issues and submit appeals per payer requirements

Generating claims for secondary and tertiary insurance

Investigating insurance fraud and report if found

Reviewing delinquent accounts and contacting responsible party(s) for collection

Qualifications:

Knowledge of clinical practices and medical terminology

Expert knowledge of all health care payer denial reasons, denials codes and descriptions and standard denial resolution practices

Ability to understand use, function, interpret, document, and keep records

Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures

Demonstrated knowledge of Medi-Cal Managed Care, Commercial Payers, Medi-Cal, FPACT, & PE

Thorough understanding of accounts receivables in a medical practice

Education, Experience and Licensure:

High School diploma (or equivalent) required

Minimum of six months experience in an accounting or customer service environment

Knowledge of CPT4/HCPCS and ICD10 coding, billing and collection guidelines
