Ganna Walska Lotusland, a non-profit, botanical garden in Montecito, California, renowned as a “top ten” garden of the world, seeks qualified candidates to serve as a valued member of our growing Visitor Services department.

Position Summary:

The Kiosk Attendant's main responsibility is to manage the flow of traffic at the main gate. Be the front line for greeting and assisting guests, while performing other visitor services tasks in cooperation with staff operating in Reservations, Visitor Center, Garden Shop, Membership, Gardens and Education. Will also work closely with trained docents to help coordinate daily guest tours and overcome any unforeseen problems with guest visits. The perfect candidate will take the lead in addressing any emergencies involving guests and will assist in opening and securing the grounds at the end of each tour day. Assist with Membership and Garden Shop administrative tasks, when time permits. Will work with the Director of Guest Experience.

Essential Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

• Must be good-natured, friendly and courteous, calm and professional, and must have excellent customer

service.

• Be detail driven, have excellent communication skills and conduct themselves appropriately in dealing with

people at all levels inside and outside the organization.

• Must work independently and be able to interact with other staff and volunteers; must be an excellent team

player. Able to follow instructions, policies, and procedures and be receptive to feedback.

• Able to communicate in the English language by phone and two-way radio.

• Computer literate with experience on a PC and databases, and sensitive to confidential information.

• Must have a valid California DL and own reliable transportation. Must pass a background check.

Education, Credentials, and Experience:

• Associate’s degree in a field related to customer service, sales, or human studies is desirable; experience in a

customer service role is required; experience working in a security field is also desirable.

• Must have proven experience handling security issues and medical emergencies.

CPR and first aid experience and up-to-date training are required.

Work Environment:

• Indoors, in a small gatehouse, within the garden setting of Lotusland.

• Outdoors, in the gardens, subject to weather, dust, dirt and plant allergens.

• Constant engagement with the public, staff, and volunteers.
