Opal restaurant and bar is seeking an experienced restaurant manager/asst mgr. We are a high volume, high quality, locals-oriented restaurant. Our cuisine is similar to fusion, incorporating culinary influences from around the world with locally sourced ingredients. We call it Eclectic California Cuisine. Our approach is one that emphasizes seeking positive solutions, and we are looking for someone who operates in that way both with guests and staff.

Manager responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
Ability to work harmoniously with our kitchen, requiring good food knowledge and basic kitchen skills. Bilingual a plus.
On busy nights we can do 200 or more covers and need someone who can help efficiently orchestrate that in a friendly welcoming manner.
Genuine warmth towards guests and staff is a must along with good conflict resolution skills
Awareness of industry standards re cost controls in all areas, food, beverage, labor a plus
Firm grasp of inventory and ordering a plus
Fully trained in all food safety standards and able to enforce those standards with staff in a positive way.
Able to collaborate with head chef, GM and owners to find best possible outcomes and follow through to “make sure it happens”.
Able to spot areas needing improvement and implement solutions smoothly into staff's existing routine.
Social media skills and creative promotional thinking a plus
Catering skills a plus.
Basic wine knowledge needed, sommelier or wine pairing skills desired
Understanding of what professionalism entails at all times with the focus always on what gives our guests the best experience, applied responsibly and with great managerial judgment
Follow through on all tasks consistently, with efficiency and timeliness.
Ability to look outside of the box when appropriate and find creative solutions to problems
