Job Description

Pacific Pickle Works, a Santa Barbara based pickle company is looking for a fun, energetic, and hard-working person to help with a wide variety of day-to-day customer service and business administration activities.

Required skills:

Ability to manage positive relationships with wholesale customers as well as other vendor suppliers.

Quick self-learner and ability to figure things out with minimal instruction.

Ability to make good judgements on how to handle situations in the absence of direct supervision.

Strong computer skills in programs such as Excel, Google Drive, Quickbooks as well as ability to learn other web applications in use for the business.

Appreciation for and interest in the food manufacturing industry.

Spanish speaking skills a plus.

Marketing and social media skills a plus.

Job responsibilities:

Work closely with management to learn all aspects of the pickle business. Your primary objective is to assist the Principal Pickle (PP) in by handling as much business activity as possible in order to free up PP to drive sales and strategy and worry less about day-to-day administrative tasks.

Process and prepare wholesale customer orders. Manage outreach to and inquiries from all local/regional/national wholesale customers.

Respond to inquiries and customer service requests in a timely and articulate manner.

Respond to and handle customer service issues with the objective of maintaining the highest levels of customer satisfaction possible.

Process and assist the warehouse with the shipment of online customer orders as necessary.

Plan and coordinate deliveries for the Delivery Driver by confirming delivery routes and organizing all orders to be delivered. Act as backup to the Delivery Driver when necessary.

Schedule regular maintenance of vehicles and track service records.

Manage all aspects of the Pickle Club. Look for new opportunities to increase membership and sales of the Pickle Club.

Manage relationships with sales brokers assisting with sending samples and materials to representatives and managing in-store promotions.

Respond to accounting inquiries for credit applications and other financial account issues.

Monitor customer account receivables on a regular basis and follow up with delinquent accounts in order to keep cash flow as current as possible.

Perform all weekly/monthly/quarterly tasks as outlined in the associated documentation for such tasks for both administrative and bookkeeping responsibilities.

Perform basic bookkeeping tasks as needed (entering expenses, payroll, basic reconciliation of accounts, maintaining accounts).

Maintain sales and deductions for all broker accounts and manage quarterly commissions for all brokers.

Identify and improve business processes where needed by working with involved parties, documenting processes and implementing documentation of processes and by suggesting and implementing improvements.

Plan and schedule freight logistics for all inbound shipments of materials and outbound shipments of product. Proactively monitor shipments to ensure they are picked up and delivered as scheduled.

Monitor inventory and order production supplies for pickle making (jars, lids, produce, spices, etc) as necessary.

Increase brand awareness and likeability through advertising and management of social media outlets (Facebook, Instagram, Tik-Tok etc).

Research best produce and food supplier options (price, quality, availability) and place orders as needed by working with the Production Manager and PP.

Manage special events by working with third parties to coordinate details and attend and oversee execution of event.

Coordinate and/or perform product demonstrations as needed at local grocery and other stores.

Work with the Production Manager to help manage areas of regulatory requirements and documentation for CA state and FDA authorities.

Manage areas of certification requirements and documentation for elective certifications such as non-GMO, Kosher and others.
