Job Overview:

Exciting new concept THE OYSTER BAR at Sterns Wharf from Moby Dick is excited to announce opening in late April and seeking a passionate hands on Sous Chef / CHEF de Cuisine to work with the Director of Operations to develop the menu, recipes, standards and build the Culinary Team. This opportunity is instrumental to the success of our new concept and the vision we have for being the premiere Oyster Bar in Santa Barbara. The ideal candidate will have a strong culinary background, leadership skills and a passion for seafood. This role offers the opportunity to become part of a dynamic team and contribute to our success and continual growth. THE OYSTER BAR will focus on fresh locally sourced preparations of ceviches, tartare, small plates along with full bar and local beer & wine program.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and cook food according to recipes and quality standards

- Manage kitchen staff and delegate tasks effectively

- Ensure that all food is prepared in a safe and sanitary manner

- Collaborate with the restaurant manager to plan menus and create new dishes

- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed

- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area

- Train new kitchen staff members on proper food preparation techniques

- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines

Requirements:

- Previous experience working as a Chef in a restaurant or similar setting

- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary trends

- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

- Excellent leadership and communication skills

- Knowledge of menu planning and recipe development

- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and utensils

- Understanding of food management principles, including inventory control and cost management

- Knowledge of food safety regulations and guidelines
