About The Position
The MedCenter, a busy Primary Care/Urgent Care clinic in Santa Barbara, is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our dedicated team. This position is also open to X-ray technicians with a limited X-Ray license, though this certification is not required. We are looking for candidates with prior patient care and phlebotomy experience who bring a positive, friendly, can-do attitude and are ready to make an immediate impact on our growing team.
Bilingual capabilities in English and Spanish are preferred but not required.
Schedule
Full-time position working three days per week: Friday, Sunday, and Monday
Additional Saturday shifts may be available for interested candidates
Office hours:
Monday - Saturday: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Sunday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and patient measurements
Prepare patients for examinations and assist physicians during treatments
Administer medications and injections as directed by physicians
Draw blood and collect laboratory specimens following proper protocols
Remove sutures and assist with minor procedures
Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies
Patient Care & Communication
Prepare and maintain treatment rooms in a clean, organized state
Escort patients to examination rooms and ensure their comfort
Communicate medical information clearly to patients in person and by phone
Maintain professional, courteous interactions with patients and staff
Ensure strict adherence to patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
Administrative Support
Assist with clerical tasks including restocking, reordering, and filing
Organize and maintain medical supplies and equipment
Support general office operations as needed
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Previous patient care experience required
Phlebotomy experience required
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Professional appearance and demeanor
Excellent punctuality and reliability
Ability to excel in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Solid understanding of medical terminology
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
