SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. He or she prepares general ledger information and financial statements, Grant's monthly financial statements, statistical reports, variance analysis reports, and overhead expense allocation. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities, including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, month-end closing, and year-end audit preparation and closing. It supports the preparation of annual budget and budget forecasting activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reconcile bank account activity to bank statements monthly.

Prepare banking and other miscellaneous journal entries and work papers to support entity balances.

Maintain Balance Sheet Account work papers monthly to ensure the balances relate to the general ledger and contain appropriate, known, and documented items. Reconcile and explain variance(s) as applicable. Monitor account work papers monthly for release of amounts in such accounts, as appropriate for operations.

Maintain Fixed Assets updating system for asset additions and run monthly depreciation reports for GL entry. Produce other Fixed Asset reports as needed for budgeting and forecasting.

Prepare monthly accruals for preparation of financial statements and preparation of financial reports to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors. Maintain details and explanations for journal entries.

Prepare financial reports for grantor agencies. Assist with the preparation of cost reports, grant budgets, grant revenue and expenses, and annual reports required by Federal and State agencies, such as UDS and OSHPD, etc.

Maintain information supporting the allocation of overhead expenses. Allocate overhead for internal and external reporting.

Assist with the compilation of the annual operating and capital budgets for the clinic.

Assist and support the Controller/CFO in compiling and preparing audit schedules and materials for internal and external audits to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s in accounting or finance required

Experience: Prior experience in non-profit plus/ or medical industry preferred.

Knowledge of: Sage Intact or similar software with ability to quickly transfer skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Excel skills.

Physical Demands: May be required to lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard. Communication skills using the spoken word. Ability to see within normal parameters. Ability to hear within normal range. Ability to move about.

Salary Range: $80,000 – $95,000 annual
