We are seeking dedicated and reliable caregiver to cover overnight shifts in the event of a call-out. You will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to individuals in various settings, including private homes, group homes, and assisted living facilities. Your primary focus will be to enhance the quality of life for our clients by assisting them with daily living activities and ensuring their comfort and safety.
The Overnight On-Call Caregiver will be expected to answer calls and arrive to shifts within an hour of notice on the days that they are on-call. The ideal candidate must have at least 1 year of extensive professional caregiving experience as they will need to have the ability to provide care to any client, with any need. Successful candidates will be able to choose which days to cover on-call shifts, each month. You will also have the ability to schedule ongoing scheduled shifts at the regular hourly rate.
Responsibilities
Must be available at least twice per week between the hours of 11:00pm and 7am OR 7:00pm and 7:00am
Provide personal care services, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
Assist clients with mobility and transfers to ensure their safety.
Monitor and document vital signs as needed.
Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
Implement behavior management techniques as required for clients with specific needs.
Assist with meal preparation and assist with feeding when necessary.
Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients at all times.
Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals regarding care plans and changes in condition.
Other tasks as noted in the client's plan of care.
Qualifications
Expertise in advanced caregiving skills including techniques for safely de-escalating situations with combative or aggressive clients, safely transferring clients using equipment like Hoyer lifts and gait belts, emptying catheter and ostomy bags.
Previous experience in caregiving or related fields such as home community care or long-term care is preferred.
Knowledge of vital signs monitoring and basic health care practices is a plus.
Familiarity with behavior management techniques is desirable.
Experience working in memory care or assisted living settings is an advantage.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Must be reliable, punctual, and possess excellent communication skills.
