The Santa Barbara Museum of Art is currently hiring for the position of Building Technician 1. Building Technician 1 Provides set-ups for meetings and special events, including audio/visual and food/beverage services; assists Senior Building Technician daily with custodial tasks; cares for Museum grounds and landscaping; performs minor maintenance tasks such as painting and lighting; assists Building Technician 2 with plumbing and carpentry assignments; assists Museum Technicians with renovation of galleries as needed; picks up supplies and distributes as needed; Additional duties as required. Must be able to work at a busy pace, multi-task, have a flexible, friendly and enthusiastic working style, with effective problem-solving skills and the ability to work well in a team and independently.
Requirements include: High School diploma, one year of general maintenance or in skilled trades, must have competent mechanical abilities. Requires occasional driving of Museum van, an ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis and up to 25 lbs. frequently. English verbal and written communication skills preferred.
The position reports primarily to the Manager of Facilities and Installations.
Reports directly to the Senior Building Technician.
Hourly wage is $17.00/hour and a regular 40 hour workweek.
Full-time, regular, and non-exempt status is eligible for full paid time off, medical, and retirement benefits.
Successful Background and DMV Check is required.
Must have a valid drivers license and a clean driving record.
