Crate Builder/ Art Handler - Part Time (Santa Barbara)

VAI Art Services is seeking to hire a crate builder / art handler with strong creative skills and construction capabilities. We are looking for a problem solver with background in woodworking and construction. Under the direction and guidance of the lead crate builder, the employee will be responsible for building custom finished crates to safely transport high-end fine art, objects, and furniture worldwide, as well as working with our art handling, warehouse teams, or driving company vehicles to job sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Report to lead crate builder for direction and daily projects
Regular use of manual and power tools and machinery, such as table saws, drills, tape measure, etc. (tools will be provided)
Packs and handles artwork for crating
Ability to work with deadlines and complete daily jobs in a timely manner
Provide friendly, thoughtful, and professional attitude at all times and develop good working relationships with colleagues
Clean and well-groomed with company supplied work shirt, long pants
Assisting the art handlers with delivery, installation and packing of a variety of high value items
Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned by warehouse manager
Qualifications
Must be 21 years of age and possess general knowledge of wood working
Must have a valid CA state drivers license with a clean driving record
Must be willing and capable to work a flexible schedule
Good communication skills and willingness to grow and learn
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit, bend, lift, and use hands
Movement will occur throughout the work process
Dexterity of hands, arms and legs is preferred
Employee must be able to lift 75lbs unassisted
