Facility Technician/Driver for Locally Owned Self-Storage Facility

We are looking for a positive, hard-working individual to fill an important position in our locally and family-owned company. The ideal candidate is someone with an ability to work quickly and thoroughly, problem solve and multitask effectively. This person works onsite and in a public facing position, so a professional and personable disposition is essential. This person performs maintenance, cleaning, lighting, minor and/or light landscaping, drives the moving truck for tenants and provides back up coverage for the main office. Applicants must be able to operate a heavy duty floor-scrubbing machine, operate a heavy maintenance cart and be able to lift 50lbs. Basic electrical and plumbing experience preferred but not required.

DUTIES TO BE PERFORMED:

Cleaning: clean office and restroom daily before office opens for the day, conduct a daily check of the facility looking for areas that need cleaning, sweep and mop floors, empty out trash bins (around the facility and in the office), clean units (wipe down the walls and door, sweep, mob and secure with a company lock), remove abandoned items to on-site dumpster or to an off-site transfer facility, pick up debris, clean storm drains, wash windows, and keep doors, walls, stairways and elevators clean. Power wash building exterior and maintain and clean the company truck.

Maintenance: minor electrical repairs, fix unit door latches, replace light bulbs, minor painting, put gas in truck, and troubleshoot other issues like cutting locks with either bolt cutters or grind saw. Report to the General Manager and assist with planning and scheduling repairs with 3rd party vendors.

Landscaping: sweep and rake leaves, use leaf blower, re-pot plants, water plants when needed, etc.

Driving: have a clean driving record, must be able to drive 16-foot moving truck safely.

Office: Learn and perform basic front office procedures, including payment processing and showing units to prospective tenants (training provided) and act as backup relief for General Manager or Assistant Manager.

Other: Open up blinds and turn on lights in the office shortly before office opens, assist General Manager and Assistant Manager as needed, provide General Manager with a weekly report of duties accomplished and issues around the facility, inventory janitorial supplies and purchase maintenance supplies monthly and provide all receipts to the General Manager. Maintain daily, weekly and monthly log of facility maintenance duties. Meet and check in with General Manager on a weekly basis to review duties and suggest maintenance needs.

Accountability: The Facility Technician reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for keeping a daily written accounting of their tasks and projects completed.

COMPENSATION: $23.00 per hour during 3-month probationary period and $24.00 per hours afterwards. Includes vacation and sick pay, as well as a monthly health insurance allowance. Facility Tech commission rate on rentals at $5.00 per unit. Eligible for annual bonus after first year of employment.

HOURS: 9:00 AM – 1:30 PM during first two weeks of training and 7:00 AM - 1:30 PM afterwards, 5 days a week Monday thru Friday. Occasional Saturday or Sunday shifts as office relief with advance notice.
