Island Ventures is seeking a full time, year round maintenance worker for their multiple business locations on Catalina Island, CA.
About Island Ventures
Island Ventures is comprised of 2 luxury boutique hotels, 3 retail stores and a homemade Ice Cream / Coffee shop, all located on beautiful Catalina Island.
Location
Catalina Island is located 22 miles across the ocean, 1 hour from mainland Los Angeles (15 minutes by helicopter).
The Island boasts many opportunities for the sports enthusiast. Endless hiking possibilities bundled with a multitude of water sport activities give Catalina a unique location with diverse opportunities and possibilities, all at your fingertips.
Relocation is required for this position.
Responsibilities
- Performs daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance to ensure proper operation and condition
- Responds to all guest needs as related to maintenance issues
- Maintain building as needed including any paint / tile work using proper application techniques
- Maintain company equipment such as vacuums, carts, etc.
- Provide routine maintenance such as carpet cleaning, changing filters and light bulbs, toilet and sink blockages, basic electrical, HVAC and television setup.
- Perform routine inspections, maintain and wash company vehicles
- Maintain the company housing units as needed including general maintenance work
- Perform regular check-ups of student housing (seasonal)
- Assist with guests' luggage and freight deliveries as needed
- Follow maintenance log and take responsibility for assigned tasks to ensure they are completed in a timely manner
- Respond to emergencies on-call as needed
Job requirements & Qualifications
- Must be willing to relocate to beautiful, Catalina Island
- Basic knowledge of equipment - electricity, plumbing, carpentry, painting, A/C
- Ability to manage multiple situations simultaneously
- Must be organized and possess good time management skills
- Ability to plan and prioritize work load
- Must have the ability to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be able to walk, stand, climb, kneel, reach, crawl, push, pull and twist the majority of the day
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with employees and customers / guests
Experience
At least 1 year of related general repair experience preferred.
Housing
A 1 bedroom apartment is available. Rent is subsidized by the employer.
