Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Ranch Hand/ Irrigator to support our Avocado operation by maintaining and repairing farm facilities, equipment and irrigation systems . The Ranch Hand/ Irrigator will work closely under the direction of the Ranch Manager and must be willing to learn and adapt to the needs of the business. We grow and sell and Avocados and Agave
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform regular maintenance and repairs on farm facilities, Avocado orchards,.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on irrigation system, vehicles, and other farming equipment.
- Operate and maintain hand tools, chain saws, weed eaters and construction equipment for various repair and improvement projects.
- Ensure all facilities and equipment are safe, functional, and meet operational needs.
- Assist with general upkeep of farm and infrastructure.
- Collaborate with the Ranch Manager to prioritize and complete tasks effectively.
- Show a willingness to learn new skills and farming techniques as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in using hand tools and construction equipment.
- Experience with tractor, 4X4, and 4-wheelers, vehicle maintenance, including preventive care.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities.
- Familiarity with agricultural operations is a plus, but not required.
- Bilingual a plus but not required
Work Environment:
This role involves outdoor work in a farming environment, with exposure to varying weather conditions. Candidates must be able to:
- Lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Occasionally Climb and work on ladders.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold and rain
