Job Summary
We seek a motivated Shop Hand for a contract-based role focused on hands-on product modification using shop tools, along with shipping and receiving tasks. This position requires practical skills with equipment like band saws and belt sanders, physical stamina, and strong attention to detail. As a contractor, you'll work independently while adhering to our processes, with all necessary consumables (e.g., blades, sandpaper, packaging materials) provided by us.
Key Responsibilities
Operate shop equipment such as band saws, belt sanders, drills, and other tools to modify specialized products according to provided specifications.
Perform tasks like cutting, sanding, and drilling precise holes in materials.
Handle shipping and receiving duties, including packing orders securely, labeling packages, and managing incoming shipments.
Lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly throughout the shift.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including proper care and basic maintenance of shop equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.
Follow basic instructions and retain information on product handling, modification procedures, and safety protocols.
Requirements
Proven ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working with shop tools.
Experience operating band saws, belt sanders, drills, and similar shop equipment.
Strong work ethic with a reliable, punctual, and self-motivated attitude.
Ability to learn and retain simple processes quickly, including tool operation and product modification steps.
Comfortable working in a small business environment with minimal supervision and a focus on safety.
Preferred Qualifications
Ownership of personal tools (e.g., drills, basic hand tools) is a bonus, as this allows for greater flexibility in a contracted role.
Prior experience in a shop setting, warehouse operations, light manufacturing, or custom fabrication.
Familiarity with online retail fulfillment processes or working with specialized materials.
