Purpose and Scope:

The Quality Manager is directly responsible for maintaining the QMS, ensuring QMS requirements are being met, ensuring customer quality requirements are being met, and coordinating Quality Staff. Additionally, the Quality Manager trains Quality Inspectors as needed.

Responsibilities:

Ensure that Quality Policy and Objectives are understood, practiced, and achieved by all employees.

Maintain and manage the QMS to ensure ISO 9001 compliance. This includes completing and developing QMS forms and records. Work with other management employees to revise and update the QMS as necessary.

The Quality Manager is responsible for preventing and/or identifying product quality issues by completing First-Article, In-Process, and Final Inspections as required by QMS procedures or customer requirements.

The Quality Manager will complete First Article, In-Process, and Final Inspections using appropriate, calibrated measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, drop gages, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify that all customer requirements are met.

The Quality Manager will correctly document any dimensional discrepancies and work with the relevant Machinist, Production Manager, and/or Vice President to ensure discrepancies are corrected in a timely manner.

The Quality Manager will ensure that all measurement tools used to inspect parts are calibrated and maintained in good working order, and that all calibration records are accurate and available.

The Quality Manager will investigate all Non-Conformances and Corrective Actions and complete the relevant QMS documentation.

The Quality Manager will coordinate with the Production Manager, CFO, and Vice President to ensure that all customer quality requirements and due dates are being met.

The Quality Manager will work with the Production Manager and Vice President to identify quality issues and find solutions to improve productivity and reduce dimensional discrepancies.

The Quality Manager will assist the Production Manager in basic handwork as necessary.

Education and Training:

The Quality Manager is required, as a minimum, to have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. The right candidate should have considerable mechanical inspection experience, and some supervisory experience. The Vice President and President may determine whether education and training are equivalent based on experience.

Candidate should have a strong knowledge of the use of measurement tools.

Mechanically inclined with working knowledge of basic mathematics and measuring tools/equipment.

Production and Processing “ knowledge of raw materials, production process, quality controls and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing of products.

Mechanical “ knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses.

While most inspection activities take place in a Temperature-Controlled room, the Quality Manager must be willing to encounter noise, fumes, and varying temperatures while walking through the shop.

Quality Manager must take an active role in finding and solving problems on the Production Floor.

Must be organized, meticulous, and detail oriented.

Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to follow oral and written instructions.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (especially Excel and Word) are required.

Extensive experience with interpreting engineering drawings, including GD&T symbols.

Experience with operating a manual coordinate measuring machine (CMM) preferred.

Individual must be dexterous enough to effectively operate measuring tools.

Candidate should be able to lift objects up to 25 pounds and be able to stand for long periods and move throughout the shop.

Managerial Experience:

Two years managing staff in an inspection environment.

Critical Thinking “ using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Troubleshooting “ determining root causes of dimensional errors and deciding what needs to be done. Experience identifying and troubleshooting quality issues in a manufacturing environment.

The Vice President and President may waive the need for prior managerial experience.

Compensation: Based on experience.
