Hospice of Santa Barbara, Inc., the second oldest Hospice in the United States, is a unique and innovative organization that serves children and adults who are either impacted by a life-threatening illness or grieving the loss of a loved one. All our services are provided free of charge. We do not receive any government funding or reimbursements, nor do we receive any commercial insurance payments. ABOUT THE POSITION:

As Bereavement Counselor at Hospice of Santa Barbara, Inc., you will join a dedicated team of professional counselors providing compassionate grief counseling services. Your primary role will be to serve children in the local Santa Barbara schools, working on site at assigned school campuses. This is a part-time position 10-20 hours per week. Your position responsibilities are summarized as follows:

What You’ll Do:

Provide one-to-one professional counseling to children grieving the death or anticipated death of a loved one.

Maintain timely and complete clinical case files utilizing designated client tracking software.

Be responsible for entering all client details (demographic data, etc.)

Attend relevant staff meetings and participate in community meetings, events, and/or trainings.

Meet agency counseling productivity standards.

Adhere to agency-wide and department policies and procedures.

What You’ll Need (Job Requirements):

Licensed or registered with the CA BBS – As a licensed MFT, LCSW or LPCC or an Associate AMFT, ACSW or ALPCC

Bilingual skills helpful, but not required (English and Spanish)

Demonstrated clinical experience in the areas of life-threatening and chronic illness, grief and loss, individual, family and group counseling

Knowledge of local medical, mental health, and social service agencies is helpful

Ability to maintain confidentiality, be discerning with information and use good judgment in handling sensitive information

Ability to work collaboratively as a team

Commitment to the internal standard by which we uphold professionalism, further the agency’s mission, and work cooperatively and collaboratively as a team

Approximate hourly pay range (based on experience): $28 to $45
