C.A.R.E.4Paws’ bilingual Community Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator supports the Executive Director and Deputy Director by managing our Companion Pet Assistance program, coordinating outreach efforts with C.A.R.E.4Paws’ community partners, increasing our community presence on the Central Coast, and managing volunteers. The position involves working in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo (SLO) counties.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
o Management of our Companion Pet Assistance (CPA) program, which involves coordinating our pet food distribution efforts and events; managing inventory at our food storage locations; assistance with ordering pet food through our vendors; coordinating packing of food with volunteers to be distributed; picking up food donations from supporting partners; and helping other staff members when requests are made for food or other CPA needs through email, phone calls and social media. It also involves assisting clients who request wellness services through the CPA program.
o Management of our CPA Pet Resource Centers, cohosted with agency partners, where pet families can pick up pet food and supplies and sign up for wellness services. Job tasks include communicating with agency partners and ensuring our centers are stocked and that client needs are met.
o Working with our Safe Haven program manager to coordinate any foster/boarding requests and pet placements through CPA.
o Being a liaison with community partners, building relationships within the community and establishing new partnerships.
o Representation at and help with the coordination of various community events, such as our pet food donation drives and our Happy Tails Fundraiser.
o Management of program engagement for new and existing volunteers, including overseeing of the new volunteer database.
o The collection of client stories (“happy tails”) that we promote on C.A.R.E.4Paws’ website and social media platforms. This includes getting client information and taking photos/videos of pet families.
REQUIRED SKILLS & TRAITS
o Fluency in English and Spanish
o A degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent experience
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
o Ability to work as part of a team
o Must be self-motivated, organized, creative and attentive to details
o Integrity, compassion and respect for all cultures
o Problem-solving
o Experience/proficiency with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel and Word)
o Ability to lift and carry pet food and other supplies
o Flexibility and a valid driver’s license, as the position requires weekend hours and driving to locations throughout Santa Barbara and SLO counties
ADDITIONAL, IDEAL SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
o Knowledge of animal shelters and current animal welfare issues
o Experience in veterinary medicine and/or knowledge of pet wellness
o Experience in planning events and working with volunteers.
This is a full-time position, without benefits, reporting daily to C.A.R.E.4Paws’ Deputy Director and Executive Director.
Compensation: The salary commensurate with experience.
Office location: This team member will spend a majority of their time working in the field in Santa Barbara County and SLO Counties. Administrative duties relating to the position can be performed remotely.
A C.A.R.E.4Paws vehicle will be provided to use during work hours.
