ABOUT THE POSITION:
As Bereavement Counselor at Hospice of Santa Barbara, Inc., you will join a dedicated team of professional counselors providing compassionate grief counseling services to the agency’s clients (Adults and/or Children, depending on experience). Beyond supporting clients individually, you will also have the opportunity to lead support groups, in part, based on your specific interests and training. This role could be either a part-time or full-time staff position (20-30 hours per week). Counseling services are provided primarily in-person with telehealth used based on client preference. Your position responsibilities are summarized as follows:
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Provide one-to-one and/or group professional counseling to adults grieving the death or anticipated death of a loved one.
Maintain timely and complete clinical case files utilizing designated client tracking software.
Be responsible for entering all client details (demographic data, etc.)
Attend relevant staff meetings and participate in community meetings, events, and/or trainings.
Meet agency counseling productivity standards.
Adhere to agency-wide and department policies and procedures.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
LMFT, LCSW or LPCC
Bilingual skills helpful, but not required (English and Spanish)
Demonstrated clinical experience in the areas of life-threatening and chronic illness, grief and loss, individual, family and group counseling
Knowledge of local medical, mental health, and social service agencies is helpful
Ability to maintain confidentiality, be discerning with information and use good judgment in handling sensitive information
Commitment to the internal standard by which we uphold professionalism, further the agency’s mission, and work cooperatively and collaboratively as a team
