Position Summary:

The Investment Accountant is responsible for various finance, accounting and investment functions, with about 75% of the responsibilities falling under Investments. This is a full-time, nonexempt position.

Specific Responsibilities:

Record and process capital calls and distributions for alternative investments.

Record new statement values as received for alternative investments and commingled funds.

Assist with new subscription documents for new investment positions

Perform monthly reconciliations for individually managed funds.

Assist as needed with review of investment committee meeting packets, etc.

Assist with monthly reconciliations between investment and custodian accounts.

Input all monthly investment data into our GL software and reconciliation.

Maintain a list of Santa Barbara Foundation bank accounts with user permissions for each account.

Develop and maintain relationships with banks used by the Santa Barbara Foundation.

Update all bank signatories records and all banking associated documentation.

Process bank transfers as needed, i.e., internal transfers, ACHs, and wires.

Assist with all stock contribution gift processing.

Assist with and process rebalance trading activity as needed.

Monitor bank and brokerage accounts for activity daily.

Provide support with audit spreadsheets, data collection and other audit related tasks.

Attend fund holder presentations and participate as needed.

Support finance, audit, and investment committee meetings by uploading documents to BoardEffect, coordinating with attendees, providing snacks and beverages, and taking minutes.

Act as a backup for processing cash receipts and accounts payable.

Perform special projects, as assigned.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Requirements:

Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical and organizational skills.

Ability to work cooperatively with others.

Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite.

Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge (RE)/Financial Edge (FE) and Fusion Labs GrantedGE experience a plus.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics or Finance preferred.

Work Environment:

General office environment, open office space or shared office space.

Dogs (pets) intermittently on the premises, weekly. See Pet Policy for more information.

Significant and computer work (repetitive movement – typing).

Some driving travel within the county and occasional travel outside of the county (via car or plane).

Frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending and occasional lifting/pushing of light to heavy loads (10lbs. to more than 50 lbs.)Significant telephone and computer work (repetitive movement – typing)

Pay is $30.77/hour, plus, DOE based on a 35 hour work-week. Negotiable for candidates with a high level of demonstrated skills and experience.
