VICE CHANCELLOR OF RESEARCH

The Research Integrity Unit within the Office of Research provides operational support for the Human Subjects Committee (HSC), which serves as the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for University of California, Santa Barbara. Research Integrity assists the IRB in ensuring that risks to subjects are minimized; that the rights and welfare of human subjects are protected when participating in research activities. Position oversees compliance activities related to human subjects research. Reviews minimal risk research and occasionally reviews greater than minimal risk research protocols. Advises on writing protocols, guidance documents, standard operating procedures and supports institutional compliance with federal, state, local, and University mandated laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Reqs: Proficiency with computers, including ability to operate Microsoft Office. Excellent customer service skills. Time management skills and flexibility to shift priorities, able to set priorities and deal effectively with high volumes, rigid deadlines and frequent changes. Efficient and effective oral and written communication skills and demonstrates the ability to summarize and concisely convey information. Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented setting with minimum direction. Ability to handle difficult situations effectively and collegially. Notes: There is one position available. Level will be determined at the point of hire and is dependent on skills, knowledge, and experience of the final candidate. $25.3- $35.44/hr.
