Dirt Botanicals is the only brick-and-mortar retail flower shop in Carpinteria. We are located on historic Santa Clause Lane, Neighboring businesses include Christmas in Carpinteria, The Garden Market, A-Frame Surf Shop, Rincon Beach Club/Events by Rincon HQ, Padaro Beach Grill. We are growing our team and looking to add 1 - 2 new team members to help us run the day-to-day operations of the shop. The position will be part time and we are looking for solid candidates that can ideally commit to at least a year on the team. Depending on how many people we hire you could expect 12-25 hours a week. (If 2 people 12-15 hours a week or if 1 person 25 - 30 hours a week) Ideally the candidate will have some basic floral knowledge and basic design experience BUT we are willing to train the right personality/character. Dirt is run by mother & son team, Suzie and Brian (and their respective sister & aunt, Denise) and the atmosphere is fun, creative, and pretty chill most days. Being down on the lane, working with plants and flowers most days is a treat!
Position Objective
The Floral Assistant/Shop Attendant will be responsible for facilitating operations by cleaning and securing shop facilities, assisting with inventory control and providing support to floral designers in preparing arrangements, maintaining design tools, replenishing supplies, preparing the flowers, and refrigerating flowers.
Some of the primary responsibilities of this role include but will not be limited to:
Assist with in-store customers.
Taking Phone Orders
Verify if fresh cut products are good and purge dying products.
Assist with inventory management/control.
Increase team productivity by assisting designers create floral and non floral arrangements for any occasion or event.
Prepare vessels/materials for designs.
Owning the daily/routine options so owner/designers can focus on sales and designing
Ensure the “office/checkout” area is presentable at all times and end of day.
Following opening and closing procedures
Organize cooler in consideration with daily deliveries to facilitate accurate and on time delivery.
Assist with deliveries as needed.
Receiving and processing supply shipments and fresh product
Merchandising
Assist with Seasonal Shop Installations
Job Qualifications
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) Required
College Associates or Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
1-2 Years Floral Industry Experience Preferred
Knowledge:
Basic Floral Knowledge

Seasonal Trends/Traditions
Computer/Apple/Mac literate
