Freedom Photonics LLC, a growing high-technology company based in the Santa Barbara area, is seeking to hire a Mask Designer.

Job Description:
The Mask Designer will be carrying out photolithographic mask layout using a proprietary C code-based platform. Some test and measurement of photonic devices may also be assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
With the engineering team, help with definition of the mask layout and initial design documentation
Layout masks using C code in Visual Studio Environment
Generate final mask plate files and participate in ordering masks
Participate in design reviews
Coding of additional standard routines to define common building blocks
Maintenance of the mask layout code
Work with device engineers and the wafer fab team to ensure an appropriate process has been defined for each mask
Basic test and measurement of photonic devices
Organization/documentation of test data
Skills and Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of coding in one of the common programming languages (C preferred, but experience in any language is acceptable)
Great attention to detail
Curiosity and critical reasoning
Good with visualization of three-dimensional objects and shapes
Good communication skills, and ability to work with multiple individuals on a shared project
Education/Experience Requirements:
Minimum AS degree in Computer Science or equivalent field desired
B.S. or B.A. in a STEM discipline an option
Equivalent qualifications will be accepted as well
Understanding of computer aided design process (CAD)
Understanding of semiconductor device fabrication basic processes
