Job Overview: Heeluxe Research Assistant
Footwear brands want to make the best shoes. To do this, they need access to shoe testing data during the development of new styles to improve and optimize their comfort, fit, and performance. Heeluxe is an innovative research lab based in Goleta that provides Footwear Brands with accurate and timely data gathered by a team of committed professionals, that’s easy to access, understand and implement.
The Research Assistant position is critical for the optimal operation of day-to-day testing. They will learn and operate basic data collection for each of Heeluxe’s 5 testing silos and within 3 months will focus their work on one research silo. They collaborate with the other members of the research team, interact with human test participants, and analyze collected data with Excel and Python programs.
The ideal candidate for the Research Assistant position combines a passion for research and footwear with an innate curiosity that drives them to continuously improve themselves and those around them. Responsibilities
Data Collection for each of Heeluxe’s testing silos (Human Testing and Machine Testing)
Assisting Lead Researchers on data collection projects
Analysis of Data using Excel and Python
Create new spreadsheets or python programs for data analysis
Daily meeting with research team to share “Why” we are doing each study and “What” we have learned.
Interact with footwear brands to share research findings and recommend improvements to their shoes

Preferred Experience
>2 years experience in research lab setting OR >1 years experience in footwear or human biomechanics lab
Excel: create full spreadsheets with equations to analyze data, reference other spreadsheets, and database findings
Python: basic programming experience, able to communicate with coding expert

Compensation
Competitive base pay, determined by relevant experience and highest degree achieved
