The Santa Barbara County Education Office is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Substitutes in our Early Care and Education department at various sites throughout north county and the Santa Ynez valley.
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides direct care to infant-to-preschool aged children and assistance at a school site or child care facility. Implements innovative, age and developmentally appropriate, child-centered activities for infant to preschool-aged child care programs that may include parenting education for student parents. While care is custodial in nature, incumbents are required to facilitate developmental activities and parenting instruction.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: To have or be working towards a Child Development permit or an Emergency 30-Day substitute permit. ECE units aren't necessary at this time to start but should be currently enrolled in ECE classes.
Experience: Some paid or volunteer experience working with students in a classroom setting or equivalent environment.
INCENTIVES: Receive $175 when on-boarding is complete.
If you don't have units: Receive $200 when 3 ECE units have been completed and verified.
Receive and additional $200 when an additional 3 ECE units have been completed and verified for a total of 6 units to qualify you for a child development permit.
REQUIREMENTS: Fingerprint verification of eligibility for employment will be required of selected applicant at his/her expense, proof of MMR, Tdap, Influenza (optional) vaccinations and current TB clearance.
PAY RANGE for having the following permit:
Emergency 30-Day Substitute Permit $200/day
Child Care Assistant Permit $170/day
Associate Teacher Permit $200/day
Site Supervisor Permit $225/day
Certificated Child Care Assistant Substitute Apprentice (working towards a CD permit) $138/day
