Room Inspector

The Wine Valley Inn in Solvang is seeking a part time experienced Room Inspector who will work Friday and Saturday.

The Room Inspector will inspect each check out room daily, and stayover rooms that request service. Strong and versatile leadership skills are required to foster a motivated staff, lead by example, continuously developing and encouraging all staff to feel the passion for the Wine Valley Inn and Cottages in Solvang.

Applicant should have previous hotel housekeeping inspecting experience.

Applicant should possess previous supervisory experience.

Applicant should possess good written and verbal communication skills.

Applicant should possess a pleasant personality and ability to deal with wide variety of people.

Preferred if applicant was bilingual (Spanish/English).

Must be able to work Friday and Saturday.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure good safety practices of employees and guests, assisting in the proper emergency and security procedures.

Maintains Reneson cleanliness standards for both rooms and public areas, inspecting all check out rooms on a daily basis.

Plans daily work schedule for Room Attendants, Laundry, Houseperson.

Indicates an essential function of the job (performance of the function is the reason the job exists). A function may be essential when 1) number of available employees to perform function is limited, 2) requires specialized skills – function occupies a large percentage of time, and 3) failure to perform the function may have serious consequences.

TASKS

Complete all Company and Department safety training and complies safety rules and procedures.

Assign room cleaning responsibilities and monitor housekeeping operations. Specifically ensure that all housekeepers:

clean guest rooms in accordance to Reneson's standards of a "clean" guest room.

promptly report any item in the guest room in need of maintenance or repair.

send Room Attendant back if room is not clean to standards and inform what is incorrect.

maintain a helpful and friendly attitude towards guests.

3. Inspect all check out rooms, ensuring staff is cleaning to Reneson standards, bring Room Attendants back to correct, if not cleaned to standards.

4. Stocks honor bar in all guest rooms.

5. Maintains key control and lost-and-found, ensuring staff is trained to follow correct procedures for both.

6. Monitor Laundry operations for quality and efficiency.

7. Ensure that the Housekeeping and Laundry supply rooms are clean and well organized at end of day.

8. Perform housekeeping/laundry duties during busy periods and as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, use hand to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 5 pounds. The employee is required to push up to 50 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required by this include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vison, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
