School Based Counselor - associate, licensed

Wage band range $25.00 - $38.00 per hour; however, starting pay is ultimately determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity.

Under the direction of the Director/Assistant Director of Community Based Services, the School Based Counselor carries out the mission of Casa Pacifica as it relates to the Educationally Related Mental Health Services as needed in the school.

Eligible: AMFT, MSW, ASW, LPCC, LCSW

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (illustrated by typical activities):

Serves as assigned staff to Santa Barbara County School Districts providing Educationally Related Mental Health Services including Behavior Intervention, Individual/Group counseling, Parent Counseling and Training, or Social Worker Services, in accordance with the IEP.

Participates as a member of the child's treatment team and works closely with all treatment team members regarding matters pertaining to all one-to-one services as outlined in IEP.

Attends IEP meetings where appropriate and may assist in development of mental health/social emotional goals within the IEP for each client referred by the school district, as needed.

Maintains organized progress notes for each client contact; submitting notes in a timely manner by the weekly deadline.

Maintains an active client caseload.

Adheres to the legal and ethical requirements of the mental health profession as outlined in the code of ethics and as deemed necessary by Casa Pacifica.

Maintains effective lines of communication with the Clinical Supervisor and Program Manager in regard to crises, clinical development, and program needs.

Attends and participates in appropriate staff training programs; attends outside training events and conferences as requested.

Maintains confidentiality and FERPA regulations in all matters within the organization with respect to personnel, operations and children.

May perform any other additional duties as assigned; including but not limited to case coverage with other staff.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A Master's or Doctoral degree social behavioral field: Marriage & Family Counseling; Counseling Psychology; Clinical Psychology; Clinical Counseling; Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling; Social Work with an emphasis on Clinical Social Work.

Must either be currently registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) as a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern; Associate Clinical Social Worker; licensed LMFT/LCSW, registered with the Board of Psychology (BOP) or Trainee in an MFT/MSW/LPCC approved program or AMFT/ASW/APCC with at least 1 year experience working with special education in the schools.
