Machinist Technician

Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools to perform precision machining operations.

Machine parts to specifications using milling machines.

Measure and examine completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.

Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and materials onto machines.

Monitor the feed and speed of machsines during the machining process.

Follow prepared instructions outlining methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.

Select the appropriate tools and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.

Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs.

Confer with numerical control programmers to check and ensure that new programs will function properly, and that output will meet specifications.

Recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.

Familiar with machine calibrations and console settings to perform operations.

Must have experience with tolerances (+/-.003) and ability to make exact tolerances.

Load and unload cutting tools into fixtures.

Load and unload tooling fixtures into the CNC machine.

Uses hand tools and power tools to assemble units according to product specifications.

Identifies units that fail tests or tolerance levels and repairs as necessary.

Operates CNC machinery, able to load and unload tools, able to touch off tools.

Performs inspection of parts, using inspection measurement tools micrometeors, calipers, depth micrometeors and gage pins.

Hones tools as they come off the grinders; deburrs and is able to do secondary grinding on the Okamoto if required.

Make tooling offsets as needed as tools wear in.

Verify counts on work tickets.

Perform minor preventive maintenance, maintains workstation, ensures coolant and all oil levels are correct; cleans CNC machinery as required or directed.

Provides support and training for less experienced employees as needed.

Comply with environmental, health, safety, and other plant guidelines.

Maintain 5S practices keep work area clean and organized.

Education:

Highschool diploma or GED preferred.

Read and write and speak English.

Experience:

This is an intermediate position – at least 90 days of training is required, more training and manufacturing experience is desirable.

Proven success in arriving at work on time and a proven record of good attendance.

Capable of seeing and identifying alignment of part blades.

Ability to accurately count out products and pull them into bins in preparation as you complete each work order.

Must work quickly but accurately.

Must be able to focus and complete repetitive tasks.

Must be able to work independently with minimum oversight.

Salary range $20-$30 DOE.
