JOB TITLE: PROJECT ASSISTANT – POR VIDA PROJECT
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the ONE COMMUNITY ACTION EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR & PROGRAM SPECIALIST performs a variety of student and family support and clerical and receptionist duties. specialized program support duties as necessary
to assist with promoting the Por Vida Project’s students and family services during the SMJUHSD school year
.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Perform secretarial and clerical duties including but not limited to greeting community, phones, messages, filing, data entry and ordering of supplies
Assist families in accessing community resources
Type, duplicate and distribute a variety of program information materials, reports, forms and other documents; translate oral and written materials as needed to assist clients.
Operate standard office machines and equipment including computers and software programs (MS Word, Excel, Publisher), printers, copiers, calculators and FAX machines
Maintain a variety of program records, reports and files
Maintain informational bulletin board
Provide oral Spanish/English translation in office and at community events.
Provide application assistance for health insurance, employment, passports, DMV, etc. to project participants as needed
Provide outreach and marketing of programs and services offered by Por Vida Project
Assist with and participate in events including, but not limited to, community events, school district functions and other activities
Maintain confidentiality of pertaining to clients and the operation of Por Vida Project
Prepare, process, and maintain necessary records of client participation
Participate in staff development as directed
Perform related duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED and one to three years clerical experience
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California Driver's License
Bilingual English/Spanish fluency for some positions
Must pass a Department of Justice background check
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office
Constant interruptions, and multitask environment

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and standard office equipment
Sitting or standing for extended periods of time
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve and store items

Salary and Hours:
Position is a fully-time (40 hour per week)
Rate of pay is dependent on experience
