Accounts Payable & HR Specialist

Paul Hobbs Winery, a grower and producer of luxury Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay, seeks a dedicated and organized individual to join their accounting and HR teams. The ability to manage multiple, high priority projects while maintaining daily workflow, attention to detail and a great attitude are paramount.

The Accounts Payable and HR Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of accounts payable and general accounting functions and provides administrative support to the Human Resources Manager.

This position includes a full benefits package including paid time off, paid company holidays, insurance (health, dental, vision) and 401k with company match.

Examples of responsibilities:

1. AP:

a. Manage vendor invoices.

b. Process employee travel and expense requests.

c. Process weekly vendor check run, mail checks, initiate ACH, and bank wires.

2. General accounting and support:

a. Prepare annual 1099’s.

b. Maintain schedule of container and barrel payments.

c. Fixed asset maintenance and support monthly depreciation calculations.

d. Assist with processing custom crush billing, preparation and filing of sales tax for CA.

e. Provide QuickBooks entry support.

f. File and maintain accounting records.

g. Assist in monthly and annual closing duties, preparation of unsecured property tax returns and other accounting projects, as assigned.

3. Human resources:

a. Assist with new hire process, off-boarding voluntary terminations, and org chart maintenance.

b. Provide administrative support and assist with protocols.

c. Manage renewal, eligibility, enrollment, deductions, and process contributions for company health benefits.

d. Manage companywide annual reviews.

e. Track HR related documents.

Specific qualifications & skills:

1. Business: Demonstrate understanding of Accounting Principles, Human Resources and current employment laws. Ability to manage multiple, high priority projects while maintaining daily workflow.

2. Relational: Develop strong relationships throughout the organization. Maintain a high level of confidentiality. Be a dependable resource for management and employees.

3. Communication: Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Articulate, concise, clear, and transparent with an emphasis on exemplary customer service.

4. Attitude: Positive, considerate, creative, and professional demeanor.

5. Success drive/work-ethic: Self-starter, anticipates, prepares, adapts, curious, organized, intuitive, relentless drive to excel. Capable of working well under pressure.

Basic job requirements:

1. Minimum 2 years of previous experience in Accounting and Human Resources.

2. ERP system working knowledge, NetSuite and QuickBooks experience desired.

3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.

4. Handle confidential information with discretion and tact.

5. Flexibility to work weekends and off hours when needed.

6. Ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs., or a 9L case of wine.
