Customer Service & Shipping Tech in Midtown Santa Cruz

EKM Metering is seeking a talented Customer Service and Shipping Technician to join our growing team in Midtown Santa Cruz. We supply online customers worldwide with low cost, remote readable submetering solutions to monitor electricity, water, and gas consumption. Job Purpose: Interacts with customers via Freshdesk to assure they understand the various products offered by EKM Metering and which of them would meet their needs. Answers questions and offers suggestions about installing meters and dealing with the communication, connection, and other issues. Packages, ships, and tracks products using Shipstation and Shopify. Stocks shelves and drawers from bulk inventory.

Job Responsibilities :

Develops expert knowledge of product and possible configurations with training

Provides timely telephone, web, and email support to help customers choose the right product for their needs

Answers technical questions about the products/installation

Provides ongoing feedback about customer service issues to EKM management

Provides consistent, outstanding customer support

Provides additional technical support as needed

Develops comprehensive understanding of shipping processes including specialty shipping and international shipping issues, including assembling pallets and arranging for their shipment.

Packages, ships, and tracks products with care.

Interfaces with and supports the team regarding shipping issues and process inefficiencies

Receives returns, examines and tests returned products, decides if a refund is appropriate and restocks items if appropriate

Works to keep the offices, warehouse, and bathrooms of EKM clean and organized.

We are looking for someone with the following qualifications and skills:

Experience working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and a positive attitude

Computer Literacy: data entry, typing, basic spreadsheet and word-processing familiarity

Clear communication skills, both written and verbal; the ability to explain concepts in simple terms to accurately describe product features and to help customers work through problems.

Strong professional conversation etiquette and patience especially over the phone when interacting with customers.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Ability to use critical and creative thinking skills to problem solve quickly and identify and resolve issues with products and orders.

Ability to handle multiple projects at a time, prioritize daily tasks according to their importance and complete tasks efficiently

Ability to maintain a high level of physicality for prolonged periods and the ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds on a regular basis

Education & Experience:

High School diploma, GED or equivalent

Technical aptitude, Working knowledge of electrical and electronics principles a plus

1-2 years related experience in customer service, shipping, or logistics preferred

Prior use of Freshdesk, Shopify or Shipstation a plus
