Job description

Under the direction of the Site Coordinator, the Program Leader will provide supervision, help with homework, tutoring, and other learning activities to students in the after school program, and will lead engaging academic, enrichment, and recreation activities with groups of up to 20 students (20:1 student/ adult ratio). Program Leaders will foster the self-worth of each child and develop their personal and interpersonal social skills and respect for cultural diversity. Program Leaders will provide opportunities for students to develop and strengthen academic, physical, and social skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS OF POSITION

· Supervise students at all times on the yard and in the classrooms.

· Under supervision of the Site Coordinator, develop daily lesson plans.

· Review program work plans with Site Coordinator for effective program implementation.

· Participate in and evaluate the effectiveness of activities and events.

· Instruct students on the safe and proper use of supplies and equipment.

· Implement positive discipline techniques and classroom management.

· Participate in cleaning and maintaining the facilities and equipment.

· Inspect the school site and the equipment for potential safety hazards; taking corrective action to prevent injuries.

· Interact professionally and appropriately with students, parents, co-workers, and daytime staff.

· Participate in school site staff meetings and on-going training opportunities.

· Comply with all San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) policies and procedures.

·Any additional responsibilities, although not detailed in this job description may be added by your supervisor.

PERFORMANCE METRICS

All employees take part in a self-evaluation process midway through the school year and meet with Site Coordinator to review.

QUALIFICATIONS

Educational/Experience Requirements:Minimum 48 units of college credit with a high school diploma,oran Associates degree or higher,orpassing score on the SFUSD District Instructional Aide Exam.

· Desired - 1 year experience working with diverse youth in an organized setting.

Skill Requirements:

Excellent communication skills with students and adults.

Basic computer skills: Email, Google Forms, Zoom, etc.

Interpersonal and leadership skills.

Active listening and problem-solving skills.

Growth Mindset and Restorative Practice skills.

Physical Requirements:Light to Medium physical requirements. Required to stand, walk and sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone/text; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds. Extended periods outside on the yard.

Language Requirements:English language and professional communication skills are required. Spanish bilingual is a plus.

Requirements:Health screening / TB clearance. Background/fingerprint clearance.

Hours and Days Required:Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 2:45pm - 6pm; Wednesdays: 1:30pm - 6pm. Some evenings and weekends per special events.

Attendance Requirements:Excellent attendance and punctuality is required, with schedule flexibility determined by business needs.

COMPENSATION: ($20 - $22 per hour)The hourly range for this part-time position is $20 to $22 per hour. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire hourly rates for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and internal equity considerations. While we use our full hourly range, we only consider offering the top of the range where the candidate far exceeds the experience level and skills required for the role.

This is a part-time position. Work schedule follows the SFUSD school day calendar. We are an EEO employer.
