Job Description: Art & Craft Teacher for After School Program (All Ages)

Position Overview:

The Art & Craft Teacher for the after school program is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing engaging and educational art and craft activities for students of all ages. The teacher will create a positive, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment where students can explore their creativity, develop new skills, and express themselves through various artistic mediums.

Key Responsibilities:

- Curriculum Development: Design and develop age-appropriate art and craft activities and projects for students ranging from young children to teenagers. Ensure activities are both educational and fun, catering to different skill levels and interests.

- Classroom Management: Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment. Establish and enforce rules to ensure that all students can participate in a respectful and collaborative manner.

- Instruction and Demonstration: Provide clear, step-by-step instructions and demonstrations for each project. Offer individual guidance and support to students, helping them to achieve their artistic goals.

- Material Preparation: Prepare and organize materials and supplies needed for each class. Manage inventory and order supplies as needed, ensuring all necessary materials are available for students.

- Student Engagement: Foster a positive and supportive atmosphere where students feel encouraged to explore their creativity. Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of individual students and make learning accessible to all.

- Evaluation and Feedback: Assess students’ progress and provide constructive feedback. Encourage students to develop their skills and express their ideas through their work.

- Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and program coordinators. Provide updates on student progress and program activities.

- Inclusivity: Ensure that activities are inclusive and considerate of all cultural backgrounds, abilities, and interests. Tailor projects to be accessible and enjoyable for all students.

- Health & Safety: Adhere to all safety guidelines related to the use of art materials and tools. Ensure that students understand and follow safety procedures during class.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field.

- Previous experience teaching art and craft to children and/or teenagers.

- Strong knowledge of various art and craft techniques, materials, and tools.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for working with children of all ages.

- Ability to manage a classroom and keep students engaged.

- Experience in adapting lessons to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.

- First Aid and CPR certification (preferred).

Work Hours:

- Part-time position, typically 4-5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, during after school hours.

- Additional planning and preparation time as needed.

Compensation:

- Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
