Assistant Director, Sailing Instructor, Book Keeper

Alameda Community Sailing Center is a local non profit organization located in Alameda California. ACSC specialize in providing a fun, safe, and equitable access to local youths and adults to participate in the education of sailing. Currently ACSC is looking to hire an Assistant Director, Sailing Instructor for Spring and Summer, and a Book Keeper. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: (Full Time: 40 Hours A Week, Including Weekends, Primarily in Person)

The Assistant Director manages daily operations of our sailing programs under the guidance of the Program Director. This position works directly with customers, sailing students, instructional staff, and volunteers. This position would also directly with tasks that requires knowledge of how non profit organizations runs and coordinating with fellow local organizations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Oversee daily operations: Ensure program staff complete daily tasks and

reports; Assist with sailboat and powerboat preparedness and repair

● Administrative Tasks: Coordinate staff schedule; Respond to customer service

emails, calls, and texts; Assist with grant applications and reports

● Sailing Instruction: Occasionally teach sailing courses for children and adults

using US Sailing standards; train new and returning staff on internal policies,

procedures and emergency preparedness

● Community Outreach And Marketing: Collaborate with local community

groups for programs and special events; Assist with promotional activities and social media

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

● Ability to model ACSC’s values of fostering inclusiveness, building community, encouraging adventure, and protecting the environment, all while having fun

● Experience in aquatic recreation, group facilitation, and youth development, with heightened focus on risk management in an outdoor setting

● Ability to work collaboratively and productively with volunteers, staff, adult and youth participants, and the surrounding community

● Technical administrative skills such as database management and Google applications (sheets, docs, meet, etc.); strong oral and written communication

SAILING INSTRUCTOR: (Part Time/Full Time/Seasonal (Spring & Summer) 20-40 Hours a Week)

The Sailing Instructor is a part time and seasonal position that works directly with the program director and lead instructor. The schedules would vary depending on program class schedule. This position is contingent with a current US Sailing Level 1 Sailing Instructor credential along with valid CPR and First Aid and SafeSport Certification.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Create a safe, fun, and educational sailing experience

● Leading chalk talk

● Leading land drills

● Lead on and off water sailing activities

● Lead water drills and games to engaging sailors at all levels

● Assisting with development in camp curriculum/sailing games/sailing adventures

● Overseeing risk management on and off water

● Assisting in light maintenance of equipment and upkeep of facility

●Leading games and land activities

BOOK KEEPER: (Part Time Less Than 10 Hours a Week)

The book keeper works with the board of directors as well as the program director to ensure that the financial accounting for the non profit organization is accurate and up to date. This role requires knowledge in non profit organization and must know how to use quick books. The book keeper would also attended monthly meetings with the board of directors. This role would ideally have someone who is local to Alameda CA or the Bay Area.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

●Check PO Box Weekly

●Attend 1-2 monthly board meetings

●General bookkeeping

●Payroll / check registers

●Accounts payable / receivable

●Bank reconciliation

●Bill payment

●Budget preparation

●Customized reports

●Detailed general ledgers

●Financial statements

●Review and potentially update procedures / accounting software / banking, as needed

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

●Quick Books experience (Required)

●General accounting and book keeping
