Support for tuition assistance to complete degree requirements or to apply and enter the Alder Teacher Residency is available.Teachers in Training support a wide range of work over the course of our Core Day and After School Program (ASP) programming and play a critical role in providing tutoring, academic support, behavioral support, enrichments, supervision, and other tasks that directly support our students’ well-being and achievement. Your caseload will be assigned to you by the AP of Instruction and the AP of Culture.Deliver individualized or small group instruction in the following areas: academic, literacy and math, behavioral/social-emotional, and social skills.Implement behavior intervention strategies and plans, as needed.Communicate with students’ families in conjunction with the teachers to discuss progress and growth areas.Monitor and document student progress towards intervention and support goals.You will be trained in specific intervention approaches to support your caseload.Teach your own class of students during ASP, extending learning that happens during the Core Day and providing structured enrichment activities for your students.Actively supervise recess and lunch and recess during ASP, including providing safe and predictable play, healthy nutrition, and setup/cleanup of the playground and lunchroom.Provide Academic Support in an environment that promotes student success and independence during both core day and ASP programs.Collaboratively plan and lead activities that build meaningful community connections.Support with other key tasks across the school day, including proctoring assessments, communicating with families, and supporting teachers and student engagement as assigned.Attend and actively participate in professional development activities, team and staff meetings to improve the effectiveness of student support and engagement.Actively collaborate with other staff and the larger Lighthouse Community.Maintain a high standard of professional behavior and follow all school staff policies, including Mandated Reporter, staff/student interaction policies and other requirements at all times.Other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Level 2-with BA: $35-45K+ (10-month salary range)B.A. or B.S. required2+ years of related experience and/or experience working in schools or with youth highly preferredWith LCPS’s support, apply for and receive a California Substitute Permit.Level 1-AA or equivalent: $30K+ (10-month salary range)A.A. or equivalent coursework required (Instructional Aide exam is the minimum equivalent accepted and will only be accepted with a growth plan to attain further coursework requirements)Related experience and/or experience working in schools or with youth preferredBoth:Spanish bilingual preferredKnowledge of Google appsMust complete requirements for school-based hiring prior to start:DOJ/FBI Livescan Background CheckCPR/First Aid CertificationTB Test or Risk AssessmentMandatory reporter trainingTIME COMMITMENTThis position is full-time, salaried, non-exempt, 10-month (190 day) position following the LCPS school calendar (including approximately 5 weeks of time off aligned to school holidays and breaks during the school year) and requires the following hours: 10:00am to 6:30pm daily. Summer work to support summer school programs may be available for staff interested in working beyond the 10-month calendar.SUPERVISIONThis position reports to the AP of Culture and Expanded Learning.OUR COMPENSATION PACKAGECompetitive salaried rate (see above) for teachers in training as well as the possibility of tuition assistance to attain degree or credential requirements.At Lighthouse Community Public Schools we take good care of our employees.
