Head SPED Teacher: Grades 1/2- Private School

Head Teacher Position Available For Fall-

We need you! You must have experience as a special education teacher, running all aspects of a classroom for kids with learning differences, meeting goals, and having A TON of communication with parents. If you are not willing to communicate daily, via email, text, and in person in a positive energy, cheerleader, proactive way, then this is not the job for you.

We are looking for a high energy, individual who is excellent with “tricky” kids! Someone who is excellent with teaching READING is a MUST. You are going to teach, reading, reading, reading, in every way! You must be able to teach hands on math, as well as come up with creative, innovative lessons to keep everyone interested, while learning at different levels.

Our school is one of a kind, providing an education for “in-betweener” students who don’t need a special education classroom, but a large public school is too daunting. That’s where we come in. We differentiate instruction, scaffold friendships, and calmly handle those frustrated moments our students have.

If you have a knack for connecting with a kid that is unique, a little tricky, and may challenge the word “no” then we have meaningful, life changing work for you!

Who you are:

Minimum 3 years experience in a Special Ed Classroom

Teaching Credential or a degree in Education/Child Development/Psychology or other BA in related field

Experienced with “tricky” kids

Skilled at helping students with assignments that may be new, scary, and challenging for them

Excellent communication skills with co workers and parents

Must be able to physically move, lift, and engage with active children

Be creative and have a desire to bring art or science and creativity into the classroom

Have an arsenal of recess games, will get down on the ground and build a tower, and play dinosaurs.

Comfortable with an alternative school environment, where there are no bells, but we focus on doing what it best for each child-whatever that takes.

Understand when and if Pro Act restraint is needed, very rare: but you must be comfortable.

Understand and comfortable with medications, monitoring and giving.

Hours:

8:30-3pm Monday-Thursday

Friday 8:30-1pm- that's right feels like a 3 day weekend

NO AFTER SCHOOL MEETINGS

ALL PREP CAN BE DONE DURING THE SCHOOL DAY

Please, send a resume, cover letter, and head shot or linked in photo. I need a visual to remember who you are.
