DUTIES:
Under the supervision of the deputy director, the site manager's major responsibilities are to interpret the historic Woodside Store for the public and conduct hands-on education programs for 3rd and 4th grade classes. The 2.5-hour school program includes a slideshow on the history of the area, an object hunt in the store, and hands-on activities.
The site manager is also responsible for scheduling school programs, making sales at the gift shop, maintaining the interior of the building, keeping attendance and sales figures, and informing the deputy director of the needs and developing problems of the site.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma required. Some college experience preferred.
Two years working experience, preferably with children.
Public speaking, teaching or museum experience preferred.
General knowledge of and/or interest in history of California and San Mateo County.
Traits, Skills and Abilities:
Reliable and dependable.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work enthusiastically and effectively with visitors, staff, volunteers and program participants (including adults and children).
Ability to be flexible.
Ability to provide an atmosphere that reinforces a positive environment for students.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Requires a lot of time standing and walking and some bending.
Include moving light furniture and program props. Will require lifting objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Status: Part-time, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. During the school year when school programs are scheduled, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Friday from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Pay: $21-$23 per hour
