Job Title: Preschool Classroom Aide – Special Education

Compensation: $22- $25 an hour
Hours: Monday-Thursday, 8:30-3:15, and Friday 8:30-1:15.
Position Overview:
Our Preschool Special Education Classroom is seeking an energetic, creative, and compassionate Classroom Aide to support both our preschool/Kindergarten special education classroom. Under the guidance of the Head Teacher, the aide will help facilitate daily classroom operations and provide hands-on support to students with mild special needs. This includes playing games on the floor, running on the playground, and sitting and teaching numbers, letters, and writing.
This is a fantastic opportunity and great position for someone who wants to obtain a teaching credential, is at the junior college, or is interested in gaining meaningful experience in education, special education, or child development, and who thrives in a collaborative, therapeutic, and creative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Head Teacher with classroom instruction and daily routines
Work directly with students on individual and small group assignments
Run learning centers and help facilitate hands-on projects
Prep and organize curriculum materials as directed
Supervise students during recess, lunch, field trips, and special activities
Participate in a collaborative team that includes speech, OT, and psych professionals
Student Profile:
Our students are bright, creative, and each have unique learning needs, which includes protest behaviors. The class includes 6 students with mild autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and oppositional behaviors. A strong aide is one who can form authentic connections, maintain a structured and therapeutic approach, and support each child with positivity and patience, and not get upset with behaviors of children.
Qualifications:
Babysitting, tutoring, or previously working in a preschool, or elementary classroom
Enrolled in or interested in pursuing a degree in education, psychology, or child development
Ability to actively engage in play, projects, and learning activities
Highly organized, reliable, and collaborative
Takes direction well while showing initiative
Positive, patient, and incredibly energetic
