Preschool Teacher - Monday to Friday - Hours: 8:30am-5:30pm (full time)
Must be able to legally work in the United States
Requires a commitment to the teachings of Jesus Christ and support of Christian principles taught in the Holy Bible
Must have 12 Units in Child Development (Core units)
Pass TB clearance and background check and Current Certification in Pediatric First Aid and CPR
Passion for seeing children learn and thrive, Enthusiastic team player, willing to learn and open to instruction
Fluent in English and Spanish - Excellent time management, written, inventory and verbal communication skills
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist with the planning and implementation of the preschool program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of First Discoveries Christian Preschool. Integrate the philosophy and goals of the program in relation to the developmental stages and cultural diversity of the children enrolled. Promote and supervise the healthy, emotional, social, intellectual and physical development of each child. Plan and prepare learning centers and open-ended activities on a daily basis. Develop warm, comfortable communication with children. Establish and maintain an environment that is developmentally appropriate and challenging for each child enrolled. Ensure the health and safety of children enrolled in the program. Provide any necessary first aid for children and maintain all emergency procedures. Facilitate ongoing communication and positive interpersonal relations with parents of children enrolled in the program. Assist with planning and conducting parent orientation meetings each semester. Conduct parent conferences each semester with parents of children in own group. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding the families enrolled in First Discoveries Christian Preschool. Assist in planning and implementing occasional parent education activities based on parent’s stated interest and needs. Cultivating rapport and teamwork among staff. Attend training, conferences and courses to facilitate personal professional growth as well as Bible Classes for spiritual growth.
Experience: Must have experience implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum; must possess effective writing and verbal communication skills including ability to facilitate group discussions, problem solving, and group decision making. Desirable to have 2 years’ experience teaching in an early childhood classroom with children 2-6 years. Must be able to supervise singly without assistance of other staff, both indoors and on the playground; must have experience directing, supervising, and evaluating open ended activities with at least 10 students.
Our teachers receive various bonuses throughout the year, usually around Thanksgiving, Christmas, your birthday, and Graduation. Pay is based on education and experience in Early Childhood Education. Part-time Teacher Aid also accrues 1 week of sick leave after the 3-month probationary period. Increase pay comes after yearly evaluations.
First Discoveries Christian Preschool enrolls children 2 years to pre-kindergarten. We are committed to teaching and nurturing children in their formative years using Christian values. Through Bible teachings, the founders, along with their welcoming staff, help children develop empathy, friendships, and conflict resolution. Physical ability to: lift and carry objects weighing approximately 35 pounds and stand for approximately five hours at a time.
