Sun Valley Elementary School, a welcoming, supportive, and vibrant elementary school community in San Rafael, CA, is seeking a part-time Music Teacher to pilot a music program for 3rd to 5th graders from January-May of 2026.
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic and engaging individual who believes in the power of music to build creativity and community, and who can share the joy of music with our students. The teacher will provide an introduction to music of different styles and traditions, familiarizing students with various musical instruments (including voice), music appreciation, fundamentals of musicianship (melody, harmony, rhythm, etc.), and basic music reading.
This is a part-time, hourly position for youth in Grades 3-5, commencing in January 2026 with 12 weeks of music lessons and activities. The position entails approximately 12 hours per week of teaching and planning time, with nine classes per week total and three hours of prep time (one per grade level). This position is non-exempt and does not include benefits. A teaching credential is not required. The music teacher will report to the school Principal.
