Salary: $27.24 - $32.31/hr; 2.5% Language Differential; Range 63; (5 Steps; Maximum reached in 3.5 years)
Under direction of certificated staff, Special Education Paraeducator 2 provides supervision, instruction, safety and hygiene for individual or small groups of special education students with moderate to severe physical, medical, emotional or communicative challenges in a classroom or community setting. Performs related tasks as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
2 Letters of Recommendation
Documentation of passing the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Examination or 48 semester units or equivalent to an
Associate of Arts degree or higher.
Current CPR and First Aid certification
EDUCATION:
Required: Equivalent to graduation from high school.
Desirable: Technical or college level course work or training dealing with Special Education students needs.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Equivalent of one school year of experience working with Special Education Students in an academic, social, emotional or functional instructional environment.
Employees who are able and may be required to speak, read, interpret and translate in both English and Spanish, shall be entitled to a 2.5% differential allowance above current wage. Candidates must test and successfully pass the test in both English and Spanish in order to receive the differential allowance.
