TelHi Co-op is a community of teachers, families, and children who work and learn together. Parents work in the classroom under the supervision of teachers, implementing a developmentally appropriate, child-centered, research-based curriculum.

TelHi Co-op operates M-F, 8.45-12.45, according to the SFUSD calendar. The Director also works an additional week before and after the school year. The Director works full -time, 7 hours daily, 4 hours in the classroom, and 3 hours for preparation, clean-up, and director’s duties. There are also some required evening meetings and events, zoom or in-person, and a few Saturday events.

An ideal candidate will have experience working with parents, preferably in a parent co-op; the ability to design and implement a creative and play-based curriculum; experience working with a school board; experience as an administrator; the ability to build strong relationships within the local community; knowledge of current developments in child development, how children learn, brain development, sensory-motor integration, and social-emotional development;and the ability to collaborate with the Lead Teacher. We will also consider candidates who lack some areas of experience, but who demonstrate the ability and willingness to learn.

The Director l provides strategic leadership and oversees all operational aspects of a developmentally appropriate, research-based preschool. Primary areas of responsibility include program design, implementation and oversight, supervision of paid staff and parent workers, parent/caregiver communications and education, board relations and development, community relations and marketing, maintenance of legal papers and compliance with licensing laws, intake and enrollment, and facilities. The Director reports to the Board of Management.

Requirements: Candidates must hold a Director or Site Supervisor Permit (but we will still consider people with alternate qualifications to be a director according to the Child Development Permit Matrix.)

Candidates must comply with all other legal requirements and complete any required courses, (e.g. CPR/First Aid) needed as a preschool teacher and director in California.

Candidates must stay up-to-date with Covid vaccinations.

We offer; SALARY: Exempt, estimate of $60-$70K, dependent upon qualifications/experience

DAYS OFF: 27 days off within the year. This includes 12 days of PTO (can be used as vacation or sick), plus 2 weeks paid winter break and one week paid spring break (8 week summer break is unpaid)
