We are a small business that is recognized as a leader in deep foundation testing in Northern California and we have an opening for an entry level Jr. engineer.

Job Description

Staff engineer’s primary responsibilities will be to perform various specialty inspection/ test methods for heavy civil deep foundation projects, including drilled shafts and driven piles, at various construction sites throughout California. The Staff engineer will also be responsible for collecting field data with specialty test equipment, performing related analysis field data, and producing professional engineering reports. Job requires field/ jobsite time as well as office/ lab time.

Responsibilities

· ACS will train candidate in use of all specialized testing systems and analysis software for driven pile and drilled shaft pile testing.

· Under guidance of a Senior engineer, candidate will perform analysis of test data and prepare reports for clients

· Testing is primarily located in Northern California, however depending on the needs of our clients, travel to Central and Southern California can occur on a regular basis. Testing locations could also include traveling to neighboring states such as Nevada, Utah, and Washington, as well as internationally.

Requirements

· BS and or MS in Civil, Geotechnical or Structural Engineering.

· 0 to 5 years of geotechnical, structural or civil engineering experience. (ACS is willing to train candidate-no experience necessary).

· Willingness to perform both hands-on field work as well as office / computer work. Must be able to lift 50LBs

· Have/Willingness to learn basic construction/ electrical/ electronic repair skills.

· Be able to work independently and as part of a team

· Have a strong work ethic and desire to learn

· Be willing to travel to various locations along the breath of California, as well as, nearby states and internationally to perform testing activities.

· Knowledge of MS Office

Must live in Northern California or be willing to relocate to the east bay area.

Work Schedule

· Field work schedule- Varies depending on the needs of the construction industry. ACS makes every attempt to maintain a Monday-Friday 8-hr schedule, however, the ideal candidate would need to be willing to adjust schedule based on the needs of the contracts at that time. This may include early morning or late evening hours and/or weekend hours.

· Office work schedule- On office work days ACS follows an 8-hour day, Monday-Friday schedule.

· On average, Engineers spend approximately 50% of their time traveling away from the office

including overseas.

· As is typical in the construction industry, ACS has busier seasons where engineers will spend a majority of their time in the field collecting data, and slower seasons where engineers will be primarily in the office performing analysis on test data as well as maintenance on equipment and vehicles.

· ACS makes every attempt to provide additional comp days/hours (time off) to employees during the slower seasons to compensate for the extra hours needed during the busy season.

Salary Compensation

· Step 1-Compensation will start at $75,000 during training period (Approximately 2-3 months).

· Step 2: Salary will increase to $85,000 once engineer is able to perform GGL and CSL on their own. Can usually be achieved within the 2-3 months of training.

· Step 3: Salary will increase to $90,000 once engineer can perform PDA field testing on their own. Achieve at least an intermediate on PDA certification exam.

· Step 4: Salary will increase to $100,000 once engineer is able to perform all field testing as well as perform CAPWAP and Wave Equation Analysis on their own.Achieve at least an advanced on PDA certification exam.

· Step 5: Salary will increase to $110,000 once all above steps are achieved and engineer has obtained PE license.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
