Firmware Engineer - Turner Designs

This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting the firmware and software for new and existing products. This is a full-time, in person role, with a mix of firmware writing and physical systems testing.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Working with Engineering & Marketing develops product specifications to meet market needs. Explores trade-offs between product capability, cost & development effort.

Develops more detailed specifications for use within engineering for the development of the product.

Hands-on implementation of the software and firmware. Helps resolve technical issues as they arise during development.

Works to meet milestones and schedule of the product development.

Stays abreast of latest FW and SW tools and components and advises company on their use.

Supports manufacturing as required with Firmware and Software for test or calibration fixtures.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Takes pride in their work. Proven track record of producing high quality products.

Excellent communication skills. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical parties.

Experience in writing firmware, particularly in C.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline, or equivalent experience

Hands on experience developing complex embedded firmware and software

Preferred Skills:

Basic electrical lab skills: Use of Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, etc.; basic circuit theory

PCBA Design (We use Altium, adaptable skills in other programs okay)

Oceanographic or Marine Equipment design

Low power, battery operated devices

Basic understanding of Optics: Optical filters, PD/LEDs, Optical fiber/light pipes/light guides

Git, ARM development experience, multithreaded embedded software

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

Recent graduates okay, but must have some experience with firmware projects.

Non-traditional engineering experience encouraged to apply with explanation of experience.
