Sr. Member of Technical Staff, Systems Engineering (Salary Range: $180,000/yr - $208,000/yr): Perform system design, prototyping, and hardware development for advanced battery management products. Assist systems design and development team with component selection, schematic design, and PCB layout design and development. Work on design, integration and testing of firmware and software-controlled products. Create and execute plans to bring up, debug and validate design to achieve functional and performance goals. Design and execute product-level testing and focus on product safety, product reliability, risk mitigation, and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) coverage. Manage the DC-DC converter design and implementation of algorithms to optimize battery pack efficiency, runtime, and extended battery lifetime. Assist with the automated test sequencing and regression and test results from analysis for bench evaluation and application-level testing. Provide hands-on electrical engineering work and Hardware debugging and design, integration, and testing of firmware and software-controlled products. Provide technical support to key customers. Write requirement documents, application notes, user guides, and datasheet manuscripts for internal/external publication.
Limited travel required (under 15%, domestic).
REQUIREMENTS: Masters degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related engineering field. 3 years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or a closely related occupation.
SKILLS: Must have:
1. Experience with DC-DC converters and control loop design.
2. Experience with BMS design and characterization.
3. Experience in Python or Matlab (for automated regression, data analysis, and scripting).
4. Experience with functional safety development and analysis (SIL, ASIL), FMEA analysis, and EMI or EMC qualification testing.
5. Experience with battery science fundamentals, including difference between battery chemistries, battery electrical characteristics and performance, battery degradation mechanisms.
6. Experience with residential and utility scale energy storage products and their interaction with the electrical grid.
7. Experience with high power / high voltage (up to 1500V) power conversion for energy storage (DC/DC, AC/DC).
