Goodwater Capital, LLC in Burlingame, CA seeks Staff Data Scientist (multiple positions).
Responsibilities: The Staff Data Scientist will support business intelligence analysis and machine learning modeling by exploring data and uncovering insights which impact critical business decisions for Goodwater and portfolio companies. Specific duties include: resolving questions and problems by determining what data is needed, gathering the data via surveys, experiments, and polls, ascertaining data validity, and interpreting the data by utilizing data analysis techniques and methods; Leveraging internal data to produce high-quality analyses, reports, tables, charts, and graphs in order to provide accurate conclusions to team members and clients, and to improve overall efficiency and identify gaps in the investment process; Developing new mathematical and statistical models to analyze large, disparate data sets to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and other relationships in the data; Collaborating with fellow data scientists to validate, monitor, and discuss data limitations and implement machine learning models. Employee may be stationed anywhere in the continental U.S., but will report to headquarters in Burlingame, California.
Education: Master’s degree in Statistics, Business, Finance, or related field (or foreign equivalent).
Requirements: Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related positions. Other special requirements: two (2) years of experience in with one of the following Object-Oriented languages: Python, Java, or C; two (2) years of experience interpreting and presenting analytical insights to stakeholders; two (2) years of experience identifying trends, patterns, and anomalies from large data sets; two (2) years of experience implementing machine learning models using TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn, or other libraries; and two (2) years of experience writing and debugging production-grade code.
Alternate Requirements: In lieu of a Master’s degree in Statistics, Business, Finance, or related field (or foreign equivalent) and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Business, Finance, or related field (or foreign equivalent) and five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related.
