We’re looking for that special night owl who loves to bake in the wee hours, and can roll into bakery production after the morning’s pastry bake off is started. This person needs to have a sense of urgency, be detail-oriented, and have a working knowledge of leavened pastries. Pastry production experience is required, please.
What is Madrona?
Madrona is a bakery, bottle shop, and event space in Downtown Mill Valley. We've been open for about 6 months, and recently we were featured in the SF Chronicle as one of the top bakeries in the Bay Area. We specialize in making laminated pastries, wood fired bread, and grab-n-go lunches. Our products are made with locally sourced and organic ingredients whenever possible, and we are deeply committed to only using sustainable packaging. Our goal is to create a positive, inclusive, and thoughtful work environment that provides work-life balance for all of our team members.
What will your responsibilities be?
- assisting our Pastry Sous with the morning bake off of all laminated pastries, cookies, a few loaf pan breads as needed, cookies, biscuits, etc.
- production for the above mentioned goods
- packing occasional pre-ordered pastry boxes to go
- previous experience with wood fired ovens is a plus!
- maintain mindful and detail-oriented hospitality
- communicate kindly
- keep your station and equipment clean at all times
- always be learning about pastries and bread
- using locks and our alarm system
- carrying up to 50 lbs
- support and work together with the rest of the team
