Hey there,
Arcana is a natural wine bar, restaurant and community space in the Mission District, blending culture, connection, and creativity. We’re looking for a Chef who wants to put their mark on a kitchen—someone with vision and the drive to create a menu that feels like their own but still aligned with our vibe.
Everything made from scratch and fresh daily and a little bit of a middle eastern flare is preferred since I am Iranian (don't let that hold you back). In the past few years, we literally have been making food we'd wanna eat and amazingly have accomplished so much by the passion and hard work we've put in without having a chef. This is a fully functioning and operating kitchen, so you'll have to come on board and run it as is and slowly transition it out. We just feel like it's time to take our journey to another level. So we need you!
This is a unique opportunity for the right person to bring their culinary identity forward, build a refreshed menu, and shape the food program at Arcana alongside our wine and event programming.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and run a small but mighty kitchen in San Francisco’s Mission District.
- Reimagine and develop a new menu that reflects your style, creativity, and influences.
- Manage all aspects of kitchen operations—ordering, prep systems, food costs, and service flow.
- Collaborate with the owner and team to align food with our wine list.
- Maintain a clean, efficient, and inspiring kitchen environment.
- Bring your character, and culinary point of view to the Arcana experience.
- Work on our private event food programming and management.
Who You Are
- A chef with experience leading a small kitchen (wine bar, café, bistro, or equivalent).
- Excited to take ownership of a menu and bring a strong creative perspective.
- Comfortable balancing vision with the practicalities of cost, consistency, and team execution and team management.
- Strong communicator, organized, and thrives in a collaborative environment.
- Passion for natural wine and creating spaces where food is about gathering and joy.

Job Type: Full-time
Starting Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour (depending on experience and/or negotiable)
- Open to a salaried position if you are the right fit
Expected hours: 40 per week
